Kingsway is the route of all evil. And Main and Kingsway is Hell's Gate. That's where I started my day today and a fun day it was. Getting tires is not my idea of good shopping but I had to get a tire replaced, so I started at Tireland on Main St. While I was waiting for the new tires to get put on, I had to hang around the bermuda triangle of Main, Kingsway and Broadway.
I killed some time at the library at Kingsgate (Hell's Gate) Mall, which is full of smelly, weird people. The mall also had one of those crazy shoe stores that has the super platform hooker shoes. (Good to remember if I need that kind of outfit for some reason.) The best part about hanging out in this dodgy area is LivingSpace and Cantu. Cantu has the most amazing bathroom fixtures I've ever seen. And tons of drawer pulls and other bathroom goodies. I can't think of somewhere in vancouver with more design-y stuff. The rent must be cheap or something cause it's not exactly the right hood for what they sell.
So I got my car back with 4 tires (good!) and headed for a donut. Best donuts ever - Duffins at 33rd and Main. Then off to Chinatown...found this really cool store hidden between Ming Wo on Pender and one of those Chinese dollar stores that sells the giant tartan plastic zippered bags you see people travel with...oh and I was cruising around with roof down the whole time cause it was totally nice out. Fun!
