If I had known SF was such great shopping, I would have been there sooner! And we should have made the trip sooner to visit friends anyway. So many trips, so little time.
I was floored by the consignment stores in SF. It seems like everyone there buys fab clothes, wears them once then sells them. Goodie for me, because the first store I checked out on Sacramento Street had a great pair of Manolo Blahniks. (My first pair of Blahniks!! Cheaper than eBay and waaaay cheaper than getting them at Holts.) I couldn't leave them there now could I? And to go with the shoes, I got a cheapie pedicure. So while the boys had a nap due to our super early flight, I had already shopped and had my toes done. Weee!
Later, off to the SFMOMA. There's so much to see that I can totally understand how people would justify having memberships there. I'd go often. My favorite installation was a little round room with tvs inside showing the moving views from revolving restaurants. Was cool, but got dizzy and had to leave. Oh, and the shop there was pretty cool. Lots of design-y finds.
Friday, I was in shopping heaven. Visited Filmore Street - full of boutiques and interesting looking cafes. You could spend all day in the 5 blocks we were in...get your nails done, do a little shopping, have some lunch and then find an outfit for later in the evening. How perfect. Picked up a pair of AG Angel jeans at another great consignment store and also got a Marimekko umbrella. It came in handy that day.
Then off to Berkeley. We stopped at 4th Street. Found a Sur La Table store, which I only thought was in Seattle and beelined for the glitter spatulas. Pink!

We ate at a super tasty taqueria while we waited out the rain. Then on to the Cheese Board. I have never experienced anything like this cheese shop. I bought a goat chesse (the smoothest ever) and some brie (the richest ever) and a baguette. Came in handy for the traffic jam on the way back to our hotel.

Saturday was spent at a wedding. The church and reception venue were really unusual in that they were dark places but seemed really inviting. (The church had a fireplace in it) All the touches were very thoughtful and the whole afternoon and evening was lots of fun. And yes, I shopped there too. The village where ther reception was had a fantasic consignment store - bought an amazing pair of red slingbacks and a cute pink H&M sweater. Everything wound up a little early so on the way home, we went out for chinese food on Clement Street which is supposed to be the new Chinatown in SF. We went to a place that had 'Numbing Noodles' and 'Fire! Burst! Mongolian Beef' on the menu. It was just a wee bit spicy!
Sunday was the day we left. Did a bunch of touristing and had a good time. Drove down Lombard Street, walked Chinatown and Little Italy and went to Coit Tower.
So we did the touristy, went to a lovely wedding and shopped. What more could a girl ask for?
