I did it!

For the 1st time ever, I've watched all 5 best picture films before the Oscars. 45 minutes till it starts. I always work to a deadline.

Playing hooky is fun!

Randomness this week:
  • Craig and I are booked to to go SFO for a wedding on April 9th. Totally looking forward to it cause I haven't been there since the road trip with Caro about a hundred years ago. Hope we get to that amusement park in San Jose with the stand up roller coaster. Fun!
  • I've now seen 4 out of 5 best picture movies. Finding Neverland was so good...I'd like it to win best pic but it won't. Ray, Aviator and Sideways are good, but there's something about Finding Neverland that I just loved. Oh and it made Craig and Justin cry. Always a good time.
  • There are already blossoms on trees. It's just been so nice out. I'm sure many fewer people leaped out windows due to lack of grey skies this month. Where can I check that?
  • I'm booked to go to Palm Springs in May. This may not sound all that exciting but 4 days of sitting around the pool in the heat sounds pretty damn appealing to me.
  • The new Moby and Thievery Corporation CDs sound really good. Prepare to hear Moby's tracks in television ads ad nauseum.
  • I found more My Restaurant Rules on a BT site. Now I just pray they are posted consistently.
  • Got my Canadian passport on Thursday. Now I can prove it.
  • I'm supposed to be in class today. Ha!

    It's not fair!

Life's not fair, they say. Just when I was settling in to the idea of watching My Restaurant Rules each week, the rug has been pulled out from under me. There have been a lot of BT sites shut down in the past week...they're basically running from the MPAA. OK. I don't blame them. And I can't complain about fairness cause when you're getting something for nothing, you really shouldn't have anything to complain if it's not there anymore.

Speaking of something for nothing, my Tivo thinks I love Canadiana shows. And tapes them all. Oh, and that I must loove *every* home improvement show there is. Rooms That Rock is bad. Just bad. Can't Tivo understand that?

Hey! Gladiator is on! Ew, Joaquin! Get off your sister!

Have I mentioned I've had 3 glasses of pinot noir?

    Wanna pee your pants?

    donky-fried-chicken

I've been watching this site for ages but hadn't checked in for a while. Man it's still funny makes me giggle out loud.

    Oscar

  • Ray
  • The Aviator
  • Sideways
  • Finding Neverland
  • Million Dollar Baby

OK, so I've seen 3 so far. Sideways is an awkward story of 2 generally unlikeable guys on a wine tour road trip. It was good but not best-picture-worthy. Ray is great and Jamie Foxx does a really amazing job of playing Ray Charles but those biography films always make me wonder what they're leaving out. The Aviator was Scorsese brilliance. 2 to go.

You've got the try it! The flavour is phenomenal!

OK...I love the designer fags. Before the decline. Loved their first show and I'm liking the Design Rivals show although it took me a while to warm to it cause I don't really get why there's a 'rivalry' - they have different personalities and style. We get it. But what's the point of being 'rivals'?

Anyhoo, I'm not too impressed by So Chic, the new show where they dress up a couple of chicks. Doesn't seem to be much of show. It doesn't present fashion very well. Lame.

Now they're shilling...wait for it...Liquid Coffeemate? Gross! It's a new low. I'm waiting for them to launch a line of low-rent furniture at Zellers. It'll happen.

    I'm bored.

    IMGP0743
OK, so now we're back to normal life. Bo-ring! I have 3 assignments due Friday, I'm working on Craig's visa application, Craig is back at work. It's nice out, blue sky but only 5 degrees out. Not exactly great weather to take my homework to the park.

So. What's fun to do this week: see the best picture films before Oscar night, play with my new food processor (I just got a Nigella Lawson book - she loves to 'blitz' everything), burn a bunch of music that I have on my hard drive to free up some space and get my ass to the gym - I always feel better after, it's just getting there that's tough.

    I love the internet!

OK there are plenty of reasons to love the net but here's one I hadn't really considered..I can download and watch Australian TV shows. No worries about PAL vs. NTSC or scheduling. My Restaurant Rules is a reality show that Craig and I got sucked into when we were there last May. We caught the last few episides while we were travelling around and stayed in our Brisbane hotel room one night just to catch the finale. (Which consisted of some prat from Melbourne bawling his eyes out for having lost.) So it's a cool show about regular people having to open a succesful restaurant in 8 weeks and the teams get eliminated as the show goes on. Cool! (And it's so Australian that it makes me want to move there sooner.)

    1 day for every hour

    mmmmm beer
Don't know where I heard the jet-lag-formula: you need 1 day to recover for every hour you've shifted with travel. It seems to be true. It's taken me about 4 days since we've been back to adjust to the time and to being on land. Was veerrry interesting to be rocking and rolling just by sitting still when we got home. I guess being on a boat for a week will do that to you.

Windjammer was too much fun, the Carribean was amazing and I want to live in St Barth's. No wonder Craig didn't want to come home. Stupid weekely Air Canada charters. If there was a mid-week flight, we would have stayed a few more days. Easy.

I guess now we're back to Craig working, me in school, going to the gym and regular life. I'm going to start buying lottery tickets because we clearly need beaucoup travel money to keep these trips up.
