Another reason why business travel is inhumane

As of today, this is all the 'liquid' you are allowed to take in international carry-on. How do I know this? I just got back from a trip to NZ today. I don't usually check my bags cause I have a little wheelie bag, my laptop and my purse. Today I had to. My Marc Jacobs perfume leaked all in my toilet bag. Damn you aviation security bastards!

This was in my purse...apparently, A-OK. As if I can blow up the plane with Touche Eclat. (And at $50 bucks, it's not like I want to.)

makeup

This is the offender...lotions and potions. Which all smells of Marc Jacobs now.

Market-ting

After a crappy week at work - long hours and a re-org of structure (new boss, fewer direct reports and support) I needed to do some marketing of a different kind.

I wanted quantity, so off to the Glebe Markets. I've been about 3 times in the past 2 months and I like it better than Bondi or even Paddington. Glebe is funkier and cheaper too. And you can park for free in the Broadway Centre.

Here's what I got:

Booty from the Glebe Markets

Straw & Grossgrain Ribbon Fedora - $15
Green Circle Earrings - $5
Metallic Heels- $30
Creamsicle Orange T-Shirt - $10
Citizen Girl - $5

+ I got a little black 3/4 sleeve jacket and a grey cardie from the Stellino booth that sells clothes that are exactly like Cue/Witchery/Veronika Maine for less than half the price.

So all in, I spent $150 and got 7 things. Cheap!

I feel better now. :)

I (hart) ebay

As if you didn't know!

But here's something I've been doing for ages and now I've found a website for it: eBay typos. Some eBay sellers are dum and dnt chek they're speling.

Good for me!

I've often searched for mistyped things: Banana Repubic (that one makes me giggle), Luis Vuiton etc etc. Typos mean that fewer bidders will find these auctions. Now you can put in the *correct* spelling of things into Fat Fingers and they'll do all the misspelling for you!

Check it out:

I just got a Veronika Maine skirt for $14 because it was listed at Veronkia Maine - I was the only bidder! Thanks, Fat Fingers!

PS - Does the trench on the main page of the VM website look kinda similar to Stella's or what?

It started out innocently enough

I saw a girl with a Vespa charm on a long silver necklace a little while ago. You know when you see something and really really want it? Most of the time the urge goes away and you forget about it but for a couple of weeks now I've been keeping an eye out for a vespa charm. I've looked at the markets, little trinket-y shops, anywhere with a jewelry or accesories rack.

Found it. On eBay, where else? But I couldn't stop there.

I saw a little airstream trailer. So 50s.

Then a cupcake tin. I loves me the cupcakes!

Hey, an Adirondack chair. I remember many times sitting on Lou's patio in one of those.

A tiny 35mm camera. I am a shutterbug.

And an armadillo. OK don't ask me why on this one.

I also got chocolates. Mmmmmmmmmmm chocolates.

I bought the lot. I just couldn't help myself. They are all so cute and aren't charm bracelets adorable? I have a few including 2 from Mimi & Marge. Ultra fabulous!

Stella at Target today

This is what I misssed today by being in a stupid all day corporate leadership training fest:

Here's a pretty funny article. Good thing I didn't go to Bondi Junction!

Good lord - but I would have been in there clawing and hissing with the best of them. I just checked and there hasn't been anything posted on eBay yet but it's just a matter of time.

Future Directions at the Strand

"The Strand is showcasing the talents of Australia’s top young designers in the Future Directions exhibition, held across all three levels during March 2007."

Went into the Strand on the weekend to check out the Corner Shop among others and came across this exhibition. Defenitely worth checking out for a free dose of fashion as all the pieces are designed by TAFE students. The clothes were beautiful although most aren't all that wearable but isn't that half the fun of fashion? There are dozens of mannequins scattered throughout the arcade. The show is on until the end of March.

Lenita Wee 2

As I walked through (and took lots of photos) I could almost hear what Heidi Klum, Michael Kors and Nina Garcia would have thought of them. I miss Project Runway. *sigh* At least I have Cycle 8 of Top Model to watch in the meantime.

A Weekend of Shopping!

Firstly: Markets! Why? Cause I love them and you can find one-of-a-kin (and cheap!) stuff. So today Paddington with Yoala, tomorrow Bondi solo.

I'd like to find a little fall jacket: 3/4 sleeve, black, something that will go with jeans but I could wear to work. I love the ones in Cue right now but I can't bring myself to pay $250+ for one. Coat? OK. Little jacket? No.

(Note to Cue website manager: turn the sound off and show us the clothes! The campaign and fashion photos are nice but seriously! I want to see the peices and the prices, even if you don't sell them online. *That* will make me want to go to your store, not models standing in the dark. OK, I'm done now.)

Secondly, Mission: BBQ. We have been living in a Bondi apartment (with a gas line out on the patio) for 4 months now and still don't own a BBQ. I do my grilling on grille pan. I long to be able to put some skewers on, grille some veggies and bake some potatoes all at once. It's happening this weekend, I swear.

Stella!

Stella McCartney is coming to town! OK the clothes are anyway. Just like she did for H&M a little while ago, she's doing a line for Target Australia. Yay! Yay! Yay!

The website just updated yesterday with all the pieces and prices. Sort of spendy for Target but they'll get snapped up pronto. Jeans $120, Jackets $200, Pants $110, Tops $50-130.

I'd be first in line to storm Target next Monday morning when it all launches but I'm in a &%#$ meeting at 9am. (I would totally skip a morning of work for this!) I'll go after 5pm and see if there's anything left. Argh! Here's what happened at the H&M Stella opening.

Glebe Markets

One of the funnest things about Sydney shopping is the abundance of outdoor markets. There's a pretty good list of them here: Sydney Markets on Urban Boheme

I checked out the Balmain Market last month and wasn't all that impressed. Very crafty and trinkety so I don't think I'll be revisiting. One I will revisit is the Glebe Market. It's basically right behind my office so I can park there. Love it! So many cheap fun clothes. It may officially be fall but it's still feeling pretty summery and there are lots of tops and dresses for warm weather there.

I've got loads of photos here: My flickr - Glebe Markets. My favourites:
