My Babies

I need to figure out how to store my shoes...they're getting dusty on the floor. I'm a proud owner of 3 pairs of Prada, 2 pairs of Jimmy Choos, 1 each of Kate Spade, Miu Miu, Marc Jacobs, Manolos. And loads more. I didn't realize I was building such a collection.

I'm a bit of a nerd now

I got glasses yesterday. My eyes are going, the end is near I tell you.

365.01 Just got new glasses

But here's the best part...I got Gucci glasses super cheap! And they threw in a pair of Michael Kors sunnies. Both pairs came to $325 and my medical fund paid for $200 of it. Nice!

So if you're in Sydney and need glasses, head to Urban Eyewear in the Broadway Shopping Centre - it's near the medical and dental offices. Most frames are 1/2 price, lenses are only $125 and they throw in a brand name pair of sunnies for free. Love it! (Don't go to OPSM as they are lazy and unhelpful!)

And to continue on the nerdiness, here's my list of books of books I read in 2007:
1. Left Bank - Kate Muir
2. Goodnight Nobody - Jennifer Weiner
3. Gucci - Sara Gay Forden
4. Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal ~ Christopher Moore
5. The Rachel Papers - Martin Amis (only got 1/3 way through - I just didn't like it)
6. Debutante Divorcee - Plum Sykes
7. Barrel Fever - David Sedaris
8. Citizen Girl - Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus
9. My Friend Leonard - James Frey
10. The Food of Love: A Novel ~ Anthony Capella
11. Any Place I Hang My Hat: A Novel ~ Susan Isaacs
12. Prep ~ Curtis Sittenfeld
13. You suck : a love story ~ Moore, Christopher
14. Angels & Demons ~ Dan Brown
15. JPod ~ Douglas Coupland
16. Shantaram ~ Gregory David Roberts (Took forever to read but was so good)
17. Naïve. Super - Erlend Loe and Tor Ketil Solberg
18. Cents and Sensibility - Maggie Alderson
19. Hello, He Lied...and Other Tales from the Hollywood Trenches ~ Lynda Obst
20. Anonymous lawyer - Jeremy Blachman
21. Not Buying It: My Year Without Shopping by Judith Levine (Interesting but doesn't make me want to stop shopping!
22. The Pleasure of My Company – Steve Martin

Not quite one every other week. Shantaram took ages to read but was made up for by some really trashy chick-lit beach books.

Jan 15th is the new New Year's Day

I get 2 weeks grace cause I've been away.

Here we go with the resolutions, never mind eating better and getting to the gym more:
1. Wear sunscreen more. I've had the worst sunburns in the past year.
2. Floss more. I am the worst!
3. Take more interesting pictures. I kind of stopped in the past 6 months or so.
4. Meet more people. It's a big city and there are lots of folks out there.
5. Buy and reupholster an old chair is some funky fresh fabric.

That's not so hard is it?

New additions to the family

Just got back home yesterday. An unexpected trip to NYC was one of the highlights of my trip back. Caro and I got up to lots in our 30 hours in the city: shopping, eating, drinking and hillarious belly laughs. In a day and a bit we covered:

  • Got off the Amtrak and headed straight to Soho. Tons of shopping + a fab lunch at the Mercer Kitchen. Funny thing is that the busiest shop we went to was Caro's choice. Purl was packed!
  • After regrouping in the hotel bar, we headed to Ruby Foo's - total Vegas-y touristy restaurant but the food was really good.
  • We stayed up a bit late and it was totally funny when there was a 3am fire alarm and Caro sprang up and bolted to the opposite side of the room to try and turn it off. Best. Laughs. Ever.
  • Off to the MoMa in the morning, followed by midtown shopping and cocktails.
  • Best shopping experience of the trip - the super gorgeous Saks Shoe floor. They had tons of designer shoes 1/2 off. I still wasn't that inclined to spend $300 on shoes...but then found out they were an additional 40% off.(Now we're talkin!!!) Bought a pair of Pradas and a pair of Miu Mius. This was followed by beers in the Saks 5th floor cafe with a view of Rockerfeller centre.
  • We finished the trip with drinks and snacks in Grand Central Station.

I also picked up a super shiny Stella McCartney bag + an Alexander McQueen carry-on bag at Holts in Vancouver. I think I have a thing for patent leather, no?

    Greetings from Boston

It's effing cold. 15 below when I landed.

    365.35

Shopping has been good and if the best way to learn a city if you ask me, and I know that you did. We hit the H&M, DSW and plenty of others. Best scores: $10 shoes at Banana Republic (marked down from $89.99 - how do they do it?!) and $15 black patent boots from Target. Nice!

    Ravenswood for $8.49!!!

Man I love how cheap North America is!
